Ready, Set, GOAL!

Whenever you want to make a change in your life, the purpose behind your goal is more important than the goal itself.

Do you find whenever January 1st comes around and its time to make the same New Year resolution, by the middle of February that resolution has become a blur.

Or the holiday’s start to approach and once again the same goal comes up: “this year I am not going to eat all the cookies and goodies clients send because I don’t want to gain weight.” Then low and behold we find ourselves not following through and eating those yummy cakes & cookies, gaining 10 pounds and feeling angry or upset with our self because we went back on our word.

When you have a goal in mind, take the time to write the goal you would like to achieve and list the reasons why you must achieve this goal. Start out your goal by making the intention as you have already achieved it by writing: I am so happy and grateful now that…

Put it on a 3x5 card then tape it to your bathroom mirror or place it on your refrigerator, a place where you are going to see it every day and be reminded to stay on target.

Putting action toward your goal everyday is important and gives you a purpose to that goal. Make a list of what juices you up and motivate you to stay on your path to achieve this goal everyday.

Have a pep talk with yourself:
= How will I feel when I achieve this goal?
= What are the specific benefits I will experience?
= How will achieving this goal impact my self-confidence or benefit my loved ones?
= What 3 actions can I take today that gets me closer to my goal?

For example, if your goal is to lose weight and get in shape = eating healthier is a huge action step to take each day. And if you’re part of a family unit, then not only will you be eating healthier so will the rest of your family. Then everyone benefits from your goal.

When you are feeling better about yourself, those around you notice the difference and once you have achieved your goal your self confidence will motivate you to create other goals to set and obtain = inspiring others to do the same.

This is the ripple effect. You are the first pebble cast in the water, creating multiple ripples to follow.

Now, when setting and achieving a goal it is very important to write and make a list as to what it will cost you if you do not achieve this goal. Just as important as identifying the benefits you will receive as a result of achieving your goal, it is equally important to identify the consequences of not achieving your goal.

Again, have a dialogue with yourself:
= How will it make me feel if I don’t achieve this goal?
= What will I experience personally, emotionally, professionally, spiritually?
= How will it effect others around me?

Start off each day focusing on why you want to achieve this goal and the cost not to follow through with it. Think how achieving this goal will positively impact other areas of your life.

This is the purpose behind your goal.

Our emotions determine our behavior; really connect with the pain of disappointment to motivate you to take action every day and live in the freedom of success.

Let yourself feel the pleasure and excitement you will experience by honoring yourself and your commitment to follow through by making your goal a reality. Wake up each day knowing you are making a difference in your life. Congratulations!

Always be kind to yourself and go to your destiny.
